How the 5 Step Software Rollout Model Works Together with Two Well-known Software Development Models

If you study IT literature, courses, university lectures or other types of IT education you will notice that there are various software development models described and taught but they hardly ever mention the software rollout process or teach it in a solid way. Why? I believe that software rollout is hardly ever mentioned because until recently there has been hardly any literature or other types of education material published in this area.

I noticed this gap early in my software rollout career and decided to fill this gap by developing a solid software rollout model for my own use. The result is the 5 step model for successful software rollouts which I decided to share with everyone who needs it. This model is described in detail in my book ‘How to Be a Software Rollout Rock Star’.
The model contains the following 5 steps:

1.   Understand and manage the impact of organizational environment
2.   Involve the right stakeholders in the right way in the rollout decision making process
3.   Understand and manage implementation and rollout dependencies
4.   Manage the software rollout process
5.   Develop the skills to roll out software successfully

People have asked me how my 5 step software rollout model fits together with the well-known software development models.
